Bringing pharmacogenomics to insurance

Many initiatives are ongoing to implement PGx knowledge and associated guidelines in clinical practise as a way to introduce personalised medicine. We believe insurance platforms have a critical responsibility in PGx, to establish a uniform and full integration in the healthcare system and to ensure that solutions based on PGx will be reimbursed and optimised for larger populations.

Our solution for insurance platforms offers a personalised treatment advice based on current guidelines for the use of genetic biomarkers, the best solution on a patient by patient basis without disclosing genetic information. This way we can help to reduce liability risk for insurance platforms within their business activity without having to access sensitive information directly.

Biograpby - Anne Marieke

Anne Marieke

CEO and Co-Founder.

Anne Marieke has been an all-round investor in the healthcare space for over 20 years. After her university degree in Biology, she worked for Roche and 3M Pharma as a salesrep. She started working in the City from 1998 onwards as healthcare portfolio manager for Threadneedle, Credit Suisse and Amundi Asset Management over period of 20 years. She was known to advise start up life sciences companies in the pre-IPO stage, but has also been sought out by the C-suite of the large multinationals which has resulted in a strong network in the industry. She has excelled in developing financial workshops to create a thorough understanding new trends and their business models across all industries.

Going forward she wants to help companies to develop their business to optimise what is achievable with their three main assets: technology, human capital and cash. She is a strong believer of the ESG rationale to build a more sustainable business in the long run. Currently she is coach for the Barclays Scale Up program with the Cambridge Judge Business School, as well as strategic communications advisor to DEBx Medical, a woundcare company. She is also NED for biotech company BioZen as well as NED for the biomanufacturing SPAC EureKING in France.

Founding SigniGene is the next step in her career, to take personalised medicine to the next level, pharmacogenomics will have to be integrated at the healthcare payor level, to be pushed down the channel to motivate clinicians and pharmacist to adopt PGx in their daily practise.

I am passionate about developing software that helps people to carry out their jobs with satisfaction and without technology-related stress. I have always hungered for knowledge, studying and working at Torino, Kent and Reading universities in a quest for the understanding of computer technology.

Since computers became mainstream in the seventies I have been at the forefront of the digital revolution, first programming early robots for the car industry, in assembler, then as a Research Fellow at the software laboratory that brought us the first commercial hypertext tool, moving on to the software manufactoring industry as principal for text searching technology at database leader Oracle.
